Windows 98 (with the development name Memphis) is Microsoft's second 16/32 bit graphics operating system and the successor to Windows 95. It was released on May 15, 1998. Like its predecessor, Windows 98 is a 16-bit / 32-bit OS mix, as a product designed for always based on MS-DOS. Windows 98 succeeded Windows 98 Second Edition in 1999, followed by Windows ME on June 19, 2000. Microsoft ended support for Windows 98 and 98 SE on June 30, 2002, and extended support on July 11, 2006.
